Merriam-Webster defines a polymath as “a person of encyclopedic learning”, but that doesn’t seem to really convey the wonder of a true polymath.Because polymaths (at least the ones I’ve met) not only know a lot about a variety of topics, they are also passionate about them. You never feel that they have an obligation to study or a “goal” to learn…They usually convey a joy of learning (combined with extraordinary intellect) that leads them to their “encyclopedic learning”.
